Through my window, the color in the evening sky after the storm caught my attention. I grabbed my phone and stepped outside. I was focused on capturing the sunlight filtering through the clouds to cast shades of pink and lavender in the sky behind that big gum tree.
It wasn’t until I snapped the photo that I saw the indescribable beauty of the big picture and the reflection of the sunset from the wet pavement!
When we’re in the middle of a life storm, how often do we have tunnel vision focusing in on one aspect of our circumstances or situation that we fail to see the big picture? So focused on what we want to see that we can’t see what God is doing all around us. In our human weakness, being willing to settle for what we perceive as a good thing, instead of asking the Holy Spirit to reveal the God thing is right in front of us, waiting for us to see and embrace it. After the storm…
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord
Open the eyes of my heart
I want to see You
I want to see You
[Verse]
To see You high and lifted up
Shinin’ in the light of Your glory
Pour out Your power and love
As we sing holy, holy, holy
Open The Eyes of My Heart-Paul Baloche
“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. And the Father who knows all hearts knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers in harmony with God’s own will. And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” Romans 8:26-28
