“…let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.” Hebrews 10:22 NLT
While praying for an individual who is going through a rough period, one member of our group saw a visual of being washed on a washboard. Even after our prayer was finished that image stuck with me.
While driving home, I recalled a childhood memory of my dad helping mom by washing baby diapers on a washboard in the bathtub. Down on his knees, his hands moving the soapy diapers up and down against the ridges on the board’s surface loosening the soil and releasing the stains from the fibers of the fabric, allowing them to disappear down the drain. And I still remember the sight of those clean, white diapers hanging on the back yard clothesline drying in the sunshine.
” But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7
When we are going through those rough times in life, dealing with circumstances and issues that seem to have become imbedded in our soul…that seem to be permanent stains that are constant reminders of our sins…our guilt…our hurt…our unforgiveness…we need to be washed.
When we can fall on our knees and put our problems into the hands of our Daddy God; when we can open our hearts to the knowledge that the blood Jesus shed on the cross has washed us clean; when we can bring those things that the enemy wants us to keep hidden into the light, we find new freedom.
So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.
John 8:36
